IEPS Environment Club News 2021
Ivanhoe East Primary School Environment Club received a $4350.00 Junior Landcare Biodiversity Grant last year for a project entitled “The Banks”. The
project is named after the large and sloping strip of land, on the westerly side of the school, along Robin Hood Road. This site is barren after large trees were removed in 2017. The plan, over the course of this year, is to involve the school community to prepare the soil, remove weeds and plant out the site using indigenous, ground
covers, grasses, shrubs and trees. This project will create a natural habitat corridor for native wildlife that the students at the school can connect with, care for and
appreciate.

We greatly need help from an IEPS family, or someone you may know, with plumbing expertise to help us to access water in this area. If you think you can help, please get in touch with Carly Simmance or Michael Vosbergen via the office or contacts below. We are also asking families to put these dates in the diary for
planting working bees on a Sunday in April/May this year.
• Planting day 1: Sunday April 18th, 2021 (last Sunday of Easter Holidays)
• Planting day 2: Sunday May 2nd, 2021
• Planting day 3: Sunday May 16th, 2021
The IEPS Environment Club meets after school on Fridays, each week, at the veggie boxes next to the 5/6 building. Anyone is welcome to come along and it is a
great way to meet other families and help the school.
