We ask that all students undertake a rapid antigen test each Monday and Wednesday before school. If staff or students receive a positive test result at any time, they must report this through the Department of Health system (Rapid antigen tests | Coronavirus Victoria) or via the coronavirus hotline at 1800 675 398. Parents must also report a positive result to the school office (9499 2171) or Ivanhoe.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au so we can record student absences while in 7-day isolation and let the rest of the school community know there has been a positive case onsite and that they should monitor for symptoms.
Upcoming Pupil Free Day - Friday 10th June
In the last week of Term 1, in the Department of Education’s bulletin, which is sent to all schools, it was strongly recommended that schools schedule a whole school Professional Practice Day on the same day for all staff in Term 2 and that this should be taken as a pupil free day.
This has been put forward by the Department of Education as a result of the scarcity of teaching staff to replace teachers throughout the state, due to COVID and related issues.
In previous years, PP Days (4 per year) have been taken by staff in small groups or individually and teachers were replaced, as there was staff available to replace them. With such a shortage of replacement teachers, this has not been able to happen this year. Hence, the department’s recommendation to schools for all staff to have their PP Day on the same day and for no students to attend school on that day.
Staff have discussed the best use of the day and we sought approval from School Council for the date of Friday 10th June to be the pupil free day. I would like to thank our School Council, who, throughout consultation gave that approval. Therefore, please put Friday 10th June in your calendar as a pupil free day across the whole school. OSHClub will be available for families who are required too/would like to use their services.
Year 6 parents: The year 6 inter school sport fixture will still have games being played that day. Transport to and from the game will still occur departing the school at the regular times. Parents will be required to drop their child off at school at 12.50pm_and pick them up from school at 3.30pm.
Mr Bartlett will send out communications on the week of as a reminder.
Regards,
Tom Boyle

On Thursday 28th April, IEPS held the annual school cross-country, at Chelsworth Park. All students from grades 3-6 made their way to the park with the first race kicking off at 1:30pm. All students participated and gave their best, with the 9 and 10 year old age groups running 1.3 km and the 11 and 12 year old’s running 2.6km. We were very fortunate to have great weather and plenty of help from parents, helping to guide and encourage the students around the course. Well done to all students who competed and a special mention to those who finished in the top 10, making it to District.
District competition followed closely after the school cross country this year, with just over a one week turn around. Taking place for the first time at Chelsworth Park on Monday 9th May. IEPS had near 60 students give their best, representing themselves and the school with pride. IEPS once again proved to be one of the strongest schools in the district with our boys finishing 3rd in the district and the girls finishing number 1, taking home the winning plaque for the second year in a row! Congrats to all runners and thanks for all parents that came to support and help out at both the district and school events, it is always much appreciated. All the best to the 14 students that progressed through to Division!
