Infectious Disease Updates
Since our last newsletter we have had 3 confirmed cases of Covid 19 on-site while infectious. Even though our numbers are plateauing we still have active cases in our community. We remind you to please be diligent on not sending your child to school when they are unwell. There are many illnesses, including Covid going and we have members of our community who are defined as being immune compromised. A friendly reminder that it is a collective effort in making sure that the school environment is as safe as possible for our entire community. As we start moving towards the warmer days and months we will continue to be discussing our current Covid safe measures inline with the DET guidelines and announce any further changes that may occur in the coming weeks.
Enrolments
Last night we had our Prep Transition Information Evening. A special mention to Anneliese Staubli and Sarah Brush for organising this event, we hope that all 2023 foundation families found the session informative. As mentioned previously we are now actively trying to finalise our workforce plan for 2023 which is directly related to our incoming enrolments for 2023. If you or someone you know is planning on enrolling their child (which is required even if they have a sibling at the school) at IEPS and hasn’t already done so we would appreciate their enrolment as soon as possible so we can start making these decisions.
Not at IEPS in 2023
If your child/children will not be returning to Ivanhoe East Primary School next year please advise us as soon as possible as this information also assists with staffing.
2022 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey
On Monday 22nd of August each family would have received an individualised letter inviting them to complete this survey. This letter includes all the details on how to access and complete the survey. We ask all families to participate in this survey as the survey results from parents/caregivers/guardians will be used to celebrate achievements made towards our 2022 goals, as well as provide valuable information to help us create our 2023 goals.
The survey will be open until Friday 16th September. If you have misplaced your code please contact the school office and it will be reissued to you.
Staffing Updates
We recently concluded the recruitment process to find a suitable replacement for 5H, unfortunately we were unable to employ a suitable candidate. We are extremely thankful and appreciate Robyn Gilmour, as she has stepped in and is taking the grade since the departure of Liz Hein. Robyn will continue to be the classroom teacher of 5H until the end of the term as we go through another round of recruitment.
Please note that Amanda Dwyer is still on LSL for the next week and will be unavailable via email. If you require any assistance or support that Amanda has been providing please email myself at Tom.Boyle@education.vic.gov.au and Adrienne Dudley at Adrienne.Dudley@education.vic.gov.au
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to navigate our way through the challenging environment that schools are facing related to a limited pool of replacement (CRT) staff and full time teaching staff that are available for schools.
Variance to School Day (Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences)
Next Thursday September 8th is our scheduled Variance to School Day. This is not a typical school day, instead it is a pupil free day so our Parent Teacher conferences can occur between 12.00 – 8.00 pm. Compass bookings went live last Thursday at 4pm, if you haven’t already done so please book in a time as soon as possible, noting that the expectation is the year 4-6 students also attend their conference.
Our Variance to School Day will be run online via Webex. We would encourage most families to engage with their conference online, however if you feel it is necessary to meet face-to-face please directly email your child’s classroom teacher.
- Please note that 5H have already conducted these interviews and 6F’s interviews will be occurring on Tuesday the 6th of September and Ms. Hamilton’s on Tuesday 13th of September as they are both attending State School Spectacular on the 8th of September.
Pyjama Day
This Friday the 2nd of September we will be having a Pyjama Day to support little people with BIG Dreams through the National Pyjama Day Fundraiser.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $1000 so more kids in out of home care can receive the support they desperately need. All money raised through this fundraiser will allow community mentors called “Pyjama Angels” to be recruited, screened, trained, and then matched with a child in care. Together they read books, play educational games, do home-work and so much more. Most importantly, they empower children with learning, life skills and confidence to reach their full potential.
This Friday we will be wearing our PJ’s and raising funds to support kids in care. If you would like to make an individual donation to this great cause please click the link below:
https://fundraise.thepyjamafoundation.com/fundraisers/ivanhoeeastprimaryschool
We will be asking that each child bring a gold coin donation on Friday to donate to this foundation.
This day was initiated by our Principal Advisory Group and a special mention to Oliva T and Isabel W for creating the poster attached below and brining awareness to this great cause.

PTFA FATHER'S/SPECIAL PERSON DAY STALL - THURSDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
PTFA will be running a Father's/Special Persons Day stall tomorrow, Thursday 1st September in the Performing Arts Room. Please send your children to school with money (no more than $20 please!) to buy a gift for their Dad, Grandpa, Pa, Pop or Special Person!
There are gifts to suit all budgets and tastes - we are sure they will LOVE whatever is chosen for him! Don't forget to send a bag with your child to take the goodies home.
The PTFA would love any and all assistance with the stall - with set up on Wed 31st August and then helping sell items to the students on Thursday 1st September. Please reach out to Nicci Green (nicci.green75@gmail.com or 0439 500 527) if you are able to assist.
Book Week was an amazing success. Students dressed in costumes of characters featured in their favourite books. Unfortunatley the parade was cancelled due to bad weather. Students were upbeat though as they had more time to show off their costumes in class. It was a fun and exciting day!
The below photo is of our library front door, please come and check out the amazing class photos. We also have a staff photo on our community instagram page @ivanhoeeastprimaryschool
Enrolments for Prep in 2023 are open and we are now finalising grades for the coming year. Enrolment forms may be downloaded from the link below.
When lodging the enrolment form, we need to sight the original birth certificate and current immunisation history statement, which are school entry requirements.
We are in urgent need of volunteers in the Canteen. If you are able to spare a few hours it would be appreciated. Please follow the link below for the Canteen Roster.
