Infectious Disease
No further updates but please find a reminder below:
The Department of Health strongly recommends that students and school staff:
- who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days and do not attend school after 5 days if they are still symptomatic.
- who are symptomatic but have not tested positive not attend school. This does not include students with pre-existing conditions such as hay fever.
We ask parents and carers to continue to remain vigilant in preventing COVID-19 transmission. Any student who is unwell should continue to remain at home. This is about keeping students healthy and well in our school and reducing the spread of both COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases. Free rapid antigen tests are available at the school for those who need them. Parents and carers will be contacted if their child shows symptoms while at school. Students who wish to wear a mask should continue to do so. To keep our school as safe as possible, we will also continue to use air purifiers and other COVID-19 prevention measures. Thanks for your continued efforts to keep our school community safe and well.

IEPS Colour Fun Run / Splash & Dash Event Update
Thank you to everyone that has raised money through the school Fun Run program over the last 4 weeks. Everyone’s efforts are greatly appreciated, and every dollar raised will go towards making IEPS a better place for all of our students. In total, we raised $22, 500. Of this, the school will receive $13, 500, with the remainder of the money going towards prizes and a small portion towards School Fun Run admin fees.
A reminder that the window to order prizes is open from now until Monday 14/11. Please ensure you log in to your fundraising portal and select your prizes between now and Monday. If prizes are not ordered in this time, you will no longer be able to order them. For further information, please check your email as there will be numerous emails from the School Fun Run team explaining how to order prizes.
Thanks again to all involved and looking forward to our Splash and Dash run on December 9th. There will be more information to come on this in the lead up to the event. Thank you!
Banyule Council Walk/Scoot/Ride Campaign
Next Friday the 18th of November is the final day of our Walk/Ride/Scoot to school campaign. We will be celebrating the grade who has the most students who have participated in this event, as well as announcing prizes for individual winners on this day. With 7 school days left and the weather being better suited for this event, we encourage as many students as possible to engage with our sustainable transport initiative and ride/walk/scoot to school where appropriate over the coming week.
Remembrance Day
On Friday 11th November students and staff will commemorate Remembrance Day which is a significant day in Australia. Remembrance Day commemorates the noble sacrifices of armed forces and civilians during times of war. At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, one minute's silence is observed across the country to mark the end of hostilities on the Western front during WW1 after four years of warfare.
Students will be participating in activities on Friday, with our Year 6 captains running an assembly recognising the significance of Remembrance Day.
2023 Class Transition (Step Up Day/s)
Our 2023 Prep Transition program is currently underway, and it has been fantastic seeing our 2023 Preps enjoy their experience at school. These sessions will allow our students, and their parents, to familiarise themselves with our school and get to make some friendships before next year. For our current students, we will be running two step-up day 2-hour sessions on Monday 12th of December and Tuesday 13th of December, when all students will meet their 2023 classroom teachers and peers. Any students who won’t be attending IEPS in 2023 will be partaking in activities with the specialist teachers.
2024 Enrolments
The Education Department has recently released a new plan and process for the timeline of Foundation enrolments for 2024 and beyond. The process is aligned to the Year 6-7 process, ensuring more consistent and timely enrolment to Primary school practices across the state. Over the last three years we have urged parents to have applications for enrolment provided by June in the year prior. It is important for us to be able to plan for the following year with clear information. One of the most important aspects of this is understanding how many siblings will be enrolling. If you have a younger child who will be school age come 2024, please consider assisting us by downloading an enrolment form from the IEPS website, or by picking one up from the office and then completing it as soon as possible.

Second-hand Clothing and Book Stall at the IEPS Fair
Keep the donations coming!
It’s now just 1 month until IEPS Fair.
This year’s Fair will feature both a second-hand book stall and a second-hand clothing stall. Accordingly, we need your help! Clean out your cupboards and your bookcases and donate your unwanted items to be sold at the Fair. We have already received many wonderful donations but keep them coming!
What items can I donate?
Clothing
- Women’s clothing (including active wear) and shoes
- Men’s clothing and shoes
- Kids clothing and shoes
- Accessories – scarves, sunglasses, jewellery, perfume (no empty bottles please!), handbags
Books
- Kids’ books
- Novels – fiction and autobiographies – particularly new releases
- Cookbooks
- Coffee table books
We kindly request that you only donate things that you would be happy to buy from the stalls – no old socks, dirty clothes or books with missing pages please! This will help ensure that we have good quality items that will sell on the day so there are less items to dispose of after the Fair. Please note that any unsold items will be donated to Diabetes Australia so will not go to landfill.
Where can I leave my donations?
Donation boxes are located at IEPS reception. We look forward to receiving your wonderful donations and turning them into cash for IEPS!
Any questions?

Dear School Community,
I’m seeking all of your help to ensure that our school library continues to be a fantastic resource for our students. We are very lucky to have a well-stocked library with an up-to-date collection and it remains my mission to carefully allocate our funding to align with the desires and needs of our school community. One significant risk to my mission is having to spend library funds to replace existing books instead of using those funds to buy new books to keep the library current and engaging to students.
Today I pulled a report that shows that there are 124 overdue library books (overdue by more than two months). The total cost to replace these books, including processing materials and time, is over $2,400. This is not only costly, but disappointing. Especially because several of these are new books purchased just this year.
It is understandable to expect a few books to go missing. However, this amount is quite alarming.
But You Can Help!
- Please pay attention to the “past due” slips and letters that are sent home from the library
- Take action by either finding and returning the overdue books or paying the replacement cost. Replacement costs are printed on the overdue notice. **Many thanks to the families who have contacted me to say they are either looking for the book or have paid the money for a replacement.**
Soon, it will become an even busier time with students finishing school and the festive season. I suspect that many of the students may know where their books are, it is just a matter of getting them into their bags and back to school.
Finally, a huge thank you to those students who have returned their books regularly over the year. Their diligence is greatly appreciated and benefits the entire school.
