Infectious Disease
There are many schools in our network who are having a surge of cases, and here at IEPS we have had a further 2x positive cases this week, therefore I urge you to continue to be diligent with the Department of Health’s strong recommendations that students and school staff:
- who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days and do not attend school after 5 days if they are still symptomatic.
- who are symptomatic but have not tested positive not attend school. This does not include students with pre-existing conditions such as hay fever.
We ask parents and carers to continue to remain vigilant in preventing COVID-19 transmission. Any student who is unwell should continue to remain at home. This is about keeping students healthy and well in our school and reducing the spread of both COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases. Free rapid antigen tests are available at the school for those who need them. Parents and carers will be contacted if their child shows symptoms while at school. Students who wish to wear a mask should continue to do so. To keep our school as safe as possible, we will also continue to use air purifiers and other COVID-19 prevention measures. Thanks for your continued efforts to keep our school community safe and well.

Music Soiree
Our Music Soiree was a big success last Thursday afternoon. This was the first concert we have had at school since December 2019 due to COVID. The large audience was treated to wonderful music by our enthusiastic students from Prep to Year Six, which included piano, singing, violin, clarinet, guitar, baritone horn, and trumpet.
Many thanks to all the performing students for your beautiful music. Thank you to our IEPS instrumental teachers for your musical guidance. A big, big thank you to all the parents and families of our performing students. You assist with practice at home, organising drop off and pick up for rehearsals at school, and support your children in their music development.
Dogs in School
Just a friendly reminder to our community about safety regarding our dogs in school policy. Dogs should not be brought onto the school premises. Furthermore, dogs should not be tied up at the front of the school gate and left unattended. Please be mindful of this if you walk to school with your dog.

Dear School Community,
I’m seeking all of your help to ensure that our school library continues to be a fantastic resource for our students. We are very lucky to have a well-stocked library with an up-to-date collection and it remains my mission to carefully allocate our funding to align with the desires and needs of our school community. One significant risk to my mission is having to spend library funds to replace existing books instead of using those funds to buy new books to keep the library current and engaging to students.
Today I pulled a report that shows that there are 124 overdue library books (overdue by more than two months). The total cost to replace these books, including processing materials and time, is over $2,400. This is not only costly, but disappointing. Especially because several of these are new books purchased just this year.
It is understandable to expect a few books to go missing. However, this amount is quite alarming.
But You Can Help!
- Please pay attention to the “past due” slips and letters that are sent home from the library
- Take action by either finding and returning the overdue books or paying the replacement cost. Replacement costs are printed on the overdue notice. **Many thanks to the families who have contacted me to say they are either looking for the book or have paid the money for a replacement.**
Soon, it will become an even busier time with students finishing school and the festive season. I suspect that many of the students may know where their books are, it is just a matter of getting them into their bags and back to school.
Finally, a huge thank you to those students who have returned their books regularly over the year. Their diligence is greatly appreciated and benefits the entire school.
