Infectious Disease
I urge you to continue to be diligent with the Department of Health’s strong recommendations that students and school staff:
- who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days and do not attend school after 5 days if they are still symptomatic.
- who are symptomatic but have not tested positive not attend school. This does not include students with pre-existing conditions such as hay fever.
We ask parents and carers to continue to remain vigilant in preventing COVID-19 transmission. Any student who is unwell should continue to remain at home. This is about keeping students healthy and well in our school and reducing the spread of both COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases.
School Reports
School Reports will be available via compass on Friday 16th December, these are a significant reflection of learning and growth that has occurred in Semester 2. Well done to all our students on their achievements during this period. I have enjoyed reading these reports and the progress and development that can be celebrated for every student.
Final Assembly (Tomorrow)
Our final assembly for the year will be held tomorrow in the Gymnasium from 2.00 pm.
Final Day of Term
The final day of the school year is on Tuesday 20th December. Importantly, please note that supervision for students will conclude at 1:45pm sharp on the final day and an OSHClub program will run from 1:30pm until 6pm. Please ensure your child is collected promptly at 1:30pm or that alternative arrangements are made to support this early dismissal.
The IEPS Fair is over but the good news is the second-hand clothing and books stall has leftover stock! Before we donate the surplus items to charity we would like to give IEPS families the opportunity to come this Friday afternoon and take whatever items they would like. Perhaps you had your eye on something on Fair day that you regret not buying – why not come on back and see if it’s still there?
The clothing stall still has the following range:
- Women’s - dresses, skirts, jackets, skirts, tops, pants, shorts, shoes, activewear, maternity wear, handbags
- Boys’ clothing (aged 3 years +) – lots of pants, shorts, jeans, bathers, hoodies, thongs and t-shirts
- Girls’ clothing (aged 3 years +) – dresses, t-shirts, shorts, shoes, jackets, bathers
- Baby clothing and accessories (aged 0-2 years)
The stall will be open again for the last time this Friday 16 December from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, so come on down and grab some goodies. The stall is located in the Grade 6G classroom. A gold coin donation is welcome but not compulsory.
Farewell to the Class of 2022
The final weeks of the school year bring about an end to primary school for our 2022 graduates. As an IEPS community we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating their achievements at our Year 6 Graduation yesterday. On behalf of our whole school community, we wish our graduating year 6’s a wonderful celebration and an exciting start to 2023, and we acknowledge and thank our departing families for their commitment to our school community during their time with us. Thank you and good luck.
Year 6 Graduation
Yesterday was a very special day for our Year 6's - their official graduation from Primary School! The day began with a ‘lap of honour’ around the IEPS block, where they were greeted at the front gate by their Prep buddies (holding handmade signs), as well as applause from family members.
The 6's then impressed their audience of adoring family and friends with a seamlessly executed Graduation Ceremony. As well as receiving their official graduation certificates, the students presented a variety of speeches reflecting on their time at IEPS, and performed two whole cohort dances and a song. Winston Tan and Willem Versteeg also blew the crowd away with their solo musical performances. Thank you to Mr Boyle, Luisa Ford and Karen Tylers-Craig for presenting thoughtful and inspiring speeches.
In the evening the students returned to school wearing their finest outfits for the highly anticipated dinner disco. They had a ball dancing to the DJ’s well curated playlist, snapping photos with friends at the Photo Booth, and having a delicious feast.
We would like to acknowledge and extend a massive thank you to all of the parents who volunteered their time and expertise to be part of the Graduation Committee: Luisa Ford, Perin Erdem, Sandra Aylett-Sloan, Caroline Lagogiannis, Stella Haros, Janelle Sinclair, Lyn Bowring, Natalie Mol, Deborah Traviato, Sally Curtis, Su Leng Wong, Karen Tyers-Craig and Tanya Bland. From the initial planning stages, to helping decorate the ceremony venue, and creating an unforgettable dinner disco including an impressive spread of food.
We wish all of the Year 6 students the greatest success as they move on to secondary school. Congratulations Class of 2022!
-Year 6 Teachers

School Captains 2023
Tomorrow at assembly, we will announce our 2023 School Captains to the wider school community. The applicants went through an extensive process, and I must say I was really impressed by each and every single student that applied. A special mention to the 10 shortlisted students who interviewed with me earlier in the week, each of them was outstanding and should hold their head extremely high as they represented themselves exceptionally well.
We were even more impressed with the way the children handled the announcement in amongst their peers. The winners were humble in their success and the candidates that missed out were extremely gracious. Life can be a roller coaster, we don’t always get what we want but it’s how we respond to the disappointment, bounce back, and work towards the next challenge that shows our character and resilience.
Early next term we will begin the process for further leadership roles here at IEPS. These will include House captains, and Environment, LOTE, Art, and Music captains. I strongly encourage all interested students to apply for these roles throughout the process early next term.
I am proud to announce that the school captains for 2023 are:
- Ares Grasso
- Jakob Suleski
- Chloe Hunter
- Taylor Convery
School Council – Thank You
I would like to express my sincere thanks to our School Council members for their commitment to our school throughout 2023. The time and effort dedicated to this role often goes unrecognised, and whilst rewarding, can also be challenging.
At Ivanhoe East, we are fortunate to have an outstanding group of people, led superbly by our School Council President, Mrs. Luisa Ford. Each of our councillors has performed a very important role to support our school purpose, and in doing so, has made an extremely valuable contribution to the educational outcomes of each of our students.
A further special mention to Luisa Ford, who will be finishing up as School Council President this year. I would like to personally thank her on behalf of the IEPS community for her commitment and dedication to the role, and support for the school.
Parent Payments 2023
We would like to thank our parents and guardians who made payments at the beginning, or throughout 2022. IEPS currently provides learning support, four specialist programs, a fully resourced library, and a comprehensive curriculum that includes a full array of camps, excursions, incursions, and extra-curricular opportunities. In addition, we provide all the technology your child will need, including notebooks, iPads, learning applications and other devices. Finally, your voluntary contributions also ensure that we can provide a school nurse program and maintain and improve our school grounds, which ultimately offers your child a safe place to learn and play. As always, we appreciate your support and look forward to this continuing in 2023.
Parent payments for 2023 will be sent out to all families via Compass on the 1st of January at 9am.
We thank you in advance for your contributions which make Ivanhoe East Primary School a well-resourced and inclusive place for all students to learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
2023 School Year
A reminder that our first day of term for 2023 is Tuesday 31st January. Regular attendance is encouraged from the onset of the school year, and the formative weeks of the school year are an important opportunity for students to rekindle friendships, routines, and begin to transition into a new year level and classroom. Our 2023 prep students will partake in two half days to start the year, as well as a prep testing day on Wednesday, before enjoying their first full day of school on the 3rd of February.
Happy Holidays
We extend our best wishes to all families and staff during the Christmas and holiday period. I personally want to thank you for supporting our school over the course of this year. Throughout my first full year at IEPS, I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to lead the school and I thank you all for supporting the work we do in our classrooms for all students. We look forward to an opportunity to enjoy some downtime before embarking on a wonderful 2023, where we will continue to build on the platform that we established this year.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
