Army Funeral @ Church
Tomorrow, Thursday 30th March, there will be an Army funeral occurring at the church next door and they will require the front of the school for the service. The service will begin at 10am and they will be closing the street, so there will be no access down Warncliffe Road at this time. At roughly 11.30 – 12.00pm there will be three rifle shots as part of the service. These will be quite loud, and I ask that you inform your child of this on Thursday morning. The service should conclude around 12.00 – 12.30pm.

Clean Up Australia Day – Wednesday 5th April
Lunchtime Clubs to Start in Term 2
The PAG representatives surveyed Foundation to Year 6's and then collated the data to select the top 4 lunchtime clubs voted upon by students. A mock timetable was created and shown to our PAG representatives in last week’s meeting. The PAG representatives discussed the timetable and came to an agreement on the lunchtime clubs they wanted. Please note, Tech club will be run by Ms. Gould and will involve the use of proper tech skills being taught. Please find attached below the timetable for Lunchtime Clubs starting Week 2 of Term 2.
Parking (pick up and drop off)
It has been brought to our attention that there have been many people parking illegally during drop off in the morning and pick up time in the afternoon. We have received reports of this from the local council and they have informed us they will be sending someone to monitor the situation in the coming days. Please take note and abide by the parking signs around the school, especially out on Warncliffe Road. This is specifically related to the following signage that states this designated area is either a 2 minute or 5 minute zone, or it is a no standing/disabled parking bay.
IEPS Parent Environment Committee Working Bee
This Sunday the 2nd of April our Parent Environment Committee will be running their first working bee of the year. It will be from 12pm – 4pm, meeting at the veggie boxes next to the senior building. There will be a BBQ and icy poles to keep your energy levels up and we appreciate any time that you may have, whether it’s for an hour or a whole day.
International Trans Day of Visibility
At Ivanhoe East Primary School we are inclusive of all cultures, races, and gender and advocate to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for everyone. Trans Day of Visibility is on Friday 31st of March and celebrates trans and gender diverse people and their strengths and accomplishments. It is a day of pride and celebration for gender diverse identity, achievements, and community and a chance to raise awareness of the discrimination, stigma and transphobia faced by trans and gender diverse individuals.
Reminders From Previous Bulletins
Music Production
In 2023 IEPS is looking to have a whole school concert in some form. Over previous years there has been different performances including a musical, circus, Bushwahzee or dance performance.
This year, before we lock in what we do, we are keen to see what assistance there is in our school community.
If you have any passion or skills that would help us, please let us know. Please include how you can help, and what time you are available. This will help guide us to what will work best for IEPS in 2023.
If you are able to help in any way, shape, or form please email Lauren Fairbairn directly at lauren.fairbairn@education.vic.gov.au
Student Uniform Policy
I would like to bring to your attention our Student Uniform Policy which is named Student Dress Code, this is available via our website or by following this link; https://ivanhoeeastps.vic.edu.au/policies
This policy states that school uniform is compulsory. Students are to wear school uniform at all times, although individual items of uniform do not need to be branded with the school logo; however, they need to be the same colour as the school branded item. For example, navy track pants may be worn and do not need to have the school logo on them. Uniform items can be purchased from PSW, or parents may order directly from psw.com.au. Second-hand uniform items can be purchased through the school second hand uniform shop during the school term. Please contact the Principal or Assistant Principal to discuss support for families experiencing difficulty meeting uniform requirements.
East Ivanhoe Village – Burton Crescent Re-development Plan
Visit Shaping Banyule https://shaping.banyule.vic.gov.au/eastivanhoe to view the Plan or see the attached, which includes four options for Burton Crescent. We have also included a survey so you can tell us what you select as your preferred option. Your feedback will help us finalise the final design. A letter, including a hardcopy of the concept plan and survey for Burton Crescent options, will be sent to all East Ivanhoe residents and local businesses next week.
Infectious Disease
If your child does test positive for COVID-19 and/or any other infectious disease we ask you contact the school via email Ivanhoe.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au and it is recommended that they isolate for a minimum of 5 days and not attend school until their symptoms have resolved.
In relation to Covid-19 it is recommended that rapid antigen tests (RATs) are used by students and staff:
- If you have symptoms of COVID-19 infection, no matter how mild
- If you are a household or close contact of someone who has COVID-19
- If you are a social contact of someone who has COVID-19.
Rapid Antigen Tests are also available from the front office, please don’t hesitate to come in and collect as needed.
