Days of Acknowledgement
June 20th – World Refugee Day
June 16th-22nd is Refugee week. Within this, World Refugee Day is a day of acknowledgement of those who have had to leave their country. This day is a celebration of the incredible strength and courage these individuals have had to show to try and find a safer place to live and to rebuild a new life in unfamiliar environments. IEPS will continue to pay tribute to the voices of refugee peoples through our library visits and classroom discussions to assist students in building an understanding of the people around them, their similarities and differences.

House Spirit Morning: Building Teamwork and Fun - Friday 28th of June
A reminder our house captains will be running a House Spirit Morning on Friday the 28th of June, right here at school. This event is a great opportunity for students to spend time in their houses and engage in team-building activities.
Students are encouraged to wear their house colours and participate in four different activities including yoga, dancing, party games and a range of obstacle courses. The goal is to bring our houses together, promote teamwork, and have some fun.
As this event is onsite, specific event permission is not required. We look forward to seeing everyone in their house colours, ready to enjoy the day and work together as a team.
Please note: Should inclement weather arise this event will be rescheduled to early term 3.

Smile Squad six month fluoride varnish visit
The Banyule Community Health Smile Squad team are heading back to our school in term 2 to complete six-monthly fluoride varnish applications for those students who have provided consent. Fluoride varnish applications help make sure students have the best chance of preventing tooth decay, so we’re excited Smile Squad are coming back.
Consent for this fluoride varnish application was provided when students’ initial consent forms were returned. However, if anyone has changed their mind and do not wish to receive a fluoride varnish application, then you can contact Banyule Community Health directly to let them know.
Please contact the Smile Squad team directly on 9450 2000.
Smile Squad fluoride visits are scheduled for the 20/06 & 21/06.
(Please note: Smile Squad runs this program. If you have any enquiries you will need to contact the Smile Squad team. IEPS is providing the venue only and we are not privy to Smile Squad information).
The Northside Parents Battle Of the Bands is back by popular demand for its 2nd year!
https://youtu.be/COcp4dcz9cM?feature=shared
It will be held over two EPIC nights at Northcote’s iconic live music venue, the Northcote Social Club on the 31st July & 8th August (IEPS night), 2024.
To avoid disappointment, get in early and book your tickets as they sold out very quickly last year and are selling out even faster this year.
The Ivanhoe East PS Parents Band “Lost Property" is participating with 8 other local primary schools including Northcote Primary, Brunswick South Primary, Brunswick East Primary, North Melbourne Primary, Westgarth Primary, Fairfield Primary, Wales Street Primary & Preston South Primary.
The ticket sales proceeds are donated back to expand the performing arts/music education programs and help improve facilities for participating schools.
