Days of Acknowledgement & Important Awareness
October 25th – Australian World Teacher’s Day
We all remember those special teachers from when we were in school; the ones who made us feel safe, made us laugh, helped us and supported us. At Ivanhoe East Primary we are so lucky to be surrounded by teachers who put their classrooms above themselves and who go above and beyond to create a safe space for students and their families. On this day, we say thank you to our amazing teachers! Students and families, we promote that on Friday you reflect on how your teacher has supported and helped you throughout this year and share this with them.
Digital Portfolio – SeeSaw Agreements
The revised Seesaw agreements for IEPS emphasises the platform's role as a digital portfolio tool that enhances communication between educators and families. Seesaw allows teachers to share students' work, providing valuable insights into your child's learning journey and classroom experiences. By using Seesaw, families can engage more meaningfully with their child's education, celebrating achievements and understanding what their child’s learning looks like in real-time. This collaborative approach fosters a stronger connection between home and school.

Important Message from the School Nurse
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We kindly ask that when purchasing a new school hat, you do not select the current hard broad brim hat available from PSW.
Our school nurse has spoken to PSW, and they have agreed to discontinue the current hat due to concerns over its hard brim, which has led to several students visiting the nurse after being accidentally hit during break times.
PSW will now be stocking a new microfibre material hat as part of our school uniform moving forward, and we recommend this option for all future purchases.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Kind regards,

Support Ivanhoe District Sports: Bid on a Signed Melbourne Football Club Football!
The Ivanhoe District is excited to announce a special auction to help fund our sports events for the coming year. We’ve been donated a signed football by the Melbourne Football Club, and we’re offering it up for auction to raise funds that will support a wide range of local sporting activities.
Throughout the year, Ivanhoe District hosts numerous sporting events involving IEPS, including, cross country, swimming, athletics and various tournaments. This is your chance to own a piece of Melbourne Football Club memorabilia while supporting local sports! The auction will run from Sunday, October 20th to Sunday, October 27th

Let’s come together to support the Ivanhoe District and ensure another fantastic year of sports!
Communication with Classroom Teachers re: Student Pick-up/arrangements
I would like to bring to your attention that the expectation at IEPS is that parents communicate with their child’s classroom teacher as to the afternoon arrangements if they are different to their normal routines. Example of this would be:
- If another parent is picking your child up outside of their approved nominees on Compass or regular arrangements
- If your child is attending after school activities (eg. Netball, Kelly sports for their first time, or they require support to find this activity when it is onsite
We also ask that you update your child’s bookings at OSHClub if they have changed as if they are rostered to attend, we are required to take them to OSHClub.
Thank you in advance with your support in regards to the above matter.

WWCC Compliance at IEPS
The Department of Education has recently made some changes to the Child Safety standards around parent volunteers and working with children cards (WWCC).
Every volunteer, parent helper, contractor to the school MUST provide to the school:
- A valid WWC to be placed on file (including the letter as per the next point)
- A letter of confirmation from the Department of Justice & Community Safety with WWCC details AND the name of our school (IEPS) listed on it (**access your MyCheck account to update your details to include the name of the school - this can take up to 21 days. This letter will automatically be generated and sent to the school on your behalf. NB**Please check with the office staff to see if we already have a letter on file)
Basically, if we do not have the letter on file with our school listed on it, a valid card is no longer enough. We are giving everyone 6 weeks for this to be in place, therefore as of Monday 2nd of December, unless you have the letter of confirmation identifying IEPS you will not be able to volunteer.
We acknowledge the extra steps involved may cause some inconvenience and we thank you in advance for adhering to the new requirements.

This year, we have set an important goal: to raise funds to resurface our outdoor basketball court, a space that plays a vital role in the lives of our students and community members. The cost of this process is ballparked at $100,000 so we are well aware that it is going to be no easy feat to achieve this.
We would like to invite you and your family to support this initiative by making a donation through this fundraising page.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us create a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone.
