Days of Acknowledgement
November 11th – Remembrance Day
On this day our thoughts are with those who have passed away or suffered from the effects of war. Whether this be family, friends, neighbours or simply trying to envisage what others around the world are currently surrounded by. To pay our respects to WWI ending, IEPS students will be gathering on the basketball courts to listen to our school captains and the last post. Each student will be creating and decorating a poppy in their classrooms to create a school-wide wreath.
IEPS Community Engagement Initiatives
Our school council’s Community Engagement Sub-Committee has been actively working on new initiatives to improve connections between Ivanhoe East Primary School (IEPS) and our school community, particularly parents, students, and staff. Here’s a preview of some exciting changes coming soon:
Refreshed Weekly Bulletin
Our Bulletin will be transformed into a shorter, visually engaging newsletter to keep you updated with what’s happening at IEPS. This will include messages from the principal, school event highlights, a sports report, and a “celebrations” section for achievements. We’ll also highlight key dates for the coming week and track fundraising progress. We plan on releasing the new look bulletin in early 2025.
Quarterly Principal’s Report
Each term, the Principal’s Report will update families on the school's strategic direction in line with the Schools Annual Implementation Plan and performance, celebrate our achievements, and provide insight into the council’s current projects. There will be a Principal's Report coming out in late November/Early December, so please keep a look out for this update on Compass.
Quarterly Principal’s Forum
We’re introducing a new opportunity to connect with the Principal in a casual setting to discuss important school topics. The forum will have an open Q&A format, with questions collected in advance to encourage participation. Meeting formats and times will vary to make it easier for everyone to attend. Each meeting will focus on a different topic and the plan is for this to occur termly.
We are piloting the first forum on Wednesday 20th of November with further information below.
Parent Information Afternoon
Starting each year, this Parent Information afternoon will allow parents to meet teachers, learn about year-level events, and connect with the broader school community. This Parent Information afternoon will also introduce class representatives and volunteer opportunities for those interested in getting involved.
These initiatives are set to roll out between Term 4, 2024, and Term 1, 2025. We look forward to seeing you at these events and hearing your feedback on how we can continue to build a strong, engaged school community.
IEPS Principal Forum PILOT
Parents and guardians are invited to attend the Principal’s Forum to discuss the outcomes of the 2024 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey.
Date: Wednesday 20th November 2024
Time: 7:30pm
Location: Ivanhoe East Primary School
Bendigo Bank Room, In the Gymnasium above the Canteen, next to the Music Room.
Please RSVP your intention to attend and any questions or matters relevant to the topic that you wish to be addressed by the Principal via the attached Google Form by Friday 15th November.
I extend a warm invitation to all parents, caregivers and guardians of current IEPS students to attend a pilot event, the Principal’s Forum.
The Principal’s Forum is a new initiative being trialled by IEPS Council and the leadership team in Term 4 with a view to holding one quarterly in 2025. The Principal’s Forum will be an informal meeting hosted by Mr Boyle, attended by parents, caregivers and guardians to discuss topics of relevance and importance to IEPS. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions on the topic prior to the event to help facilitate relevant discussion.
The topic for this pilot event is the 2024 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey. By way of brief background, in August 2024, parents, caregivers and guardians were invited to participate in an online survey, offered by the Department of Education, to assist IEPS in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement.
IEPS Council and the leadership team have now had an opportunity to digest the results which identify areas for improvement and areas where success should be celebrated. At this Principal’s Forum, outcomes will be shared and discussed more fully, so that IEPS can use the results to improve outcomes for the school and students.
IEPS FAIR 2024 - November 30th
Join us for the 2024 Ivanhoe East Primary School Fair - Where Magic Happens!
Get ready for a day of enchantment and fun on Saturday, 30th November, from 11am to 6pm!

Hay fever & Allergy alert
With the pollen count rising by the day, we have seen many more students with itchy eyes and runny noses from Hay fever coming to the Nurse.
If your child suffers from Hay fever please try to administer their antihistamine prior to school so they can have an enjoyable day without the discomfort and distraction that the sneezes and runny eyes and nose bring.
We do have a backup supply of medication here with the Nurse, but without a medication form and a phone call each time we cannot administer this.
We hope you are enjoying the warmer days and the flowers and hope that this helps all of our students enjoy them more as well.

Well done to all competitors representing IEPS including Eve C, Emily C, Isabella L, Scarlett L, Ziba M, Heidi M, Lachlan M, Alexa S, Amelia S and Angelica V. Our athletes competed impressively against the best in the state, showcasing their hard work, dedication, and skill. Additionally, a huge well done to Heidi, who secured a spot on the podium with an impressive third-place finish in the 1500m.
