Important Update: House Tabloid Sports Day
Our much-anticipated House Tabloid Sports Day will now be held on Friday, 20th December, instead of Monday, due to the forecasted extreme temperature of 42 degrees on Monday with winds between 25 to 40 km/h via http://www.bom.gov.au/places/vic/ivanhoe-east/. This has occurred to ensure the safety and comfort of all our students.
Please note the revised schedule for Friday:
Revised Schedule:
Prep – Year 2: 9:20am – 10:40am
Recess for all students: 10:40am – 11:10am
Years 3 – 6: 11:10am – 12:30pm
Final Assembly: 12:50pm – 1:30pm
There will be no lunch break on the day due to the 1:30pm finish.
Please note the following important reminders:
- Students should wear their house colours on Friday, 20th December.
- On Monday, students should wear their regular school uniform as the Tabloid Sports Day will no longer take place on that day.
- Ensure students bring a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
Thank you for your understanding and support in ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Class Representatives for 2025
There is a new class policy for IEPS that has recently been endorsed by school council. In this policy the process for allocating class representatives has changed. The process for allocating class representatives in 2025 will be as follows:
- Expressions of interest for Class Representatives will be sought via a Google Form distributed by the school
- Each class will have one or two representatives, depending on how many self-nominations
- The leadership team will review submissions and allocate class representative volunteers to classes on Tuesday 17th of December
- Class reps will be allocated and asked to set up their WhatsApp group before the end of 2024
- Class lists will be provided within the first week of 2025 to all classes, this is due to the current department privacy policy that is in place and the requirement to seek permission and then logistically provide details of families to classes. *We encourage parents to share their contact details through their WhatsApp groups*
- In early Term 1 2025, once Class Representatives have been allocated, a nomination for Class Rep Coordinator will be distributed
- If there is more than one nominated coordinator, a vote will go out to the class representative group highlighting each candidate, accompanied by an online voting form
- If any dispute arises, the school Principal will make the final decision
The role of Class Representatives for 2025 will entail the following:
- Community Building: Welcome new families to foster a supportive class environment
- Class Communication:
- Manage the class WhatsApp group to ensure interactions align with school values
- Redirect negative comments or concerns privately to the school
- Collaborate with teachers to share event reminders when directed
- Teacher Support: Assist with administrative and organizational tasks upon request
- Parent Engagement: Organise and encourage parent helpers for classroom activities or events
- Social Activities: Plan at least a termly class social event to build community connections
- Information Dissemination: Share updates about school-wide events and initiatives as required
- Parent Queries: Redirect parent inquiries to the appropriate school contacts
- Meetings: Attend termly meetings with the school leadership
- Class Lists: Maintain class contact lists in compliance with the school’s Privacy Policy
If you are interested in self-nominating for your child's 2025 class please complete the below form. We will close this form on Monday 16th December at 3.30pm and will allocate Class Representatives by Tuesday 17th of December.

IEPS Athletes Shine on the National Stage
Congratulations to Lachie M and Heidi M, who recently represented Ivanhoe East Primary School and TeamVic at the School Sports Australia Primary Track and Field Championships in Sydney. Competing against some of the nation’s best young athletes, both Lachie and Heidi showcased their incredible skills and determination on the national stage.
Lachie delivered a standout performance in the Boys 10 Discus, winning a Gold Medal with a personal best throw of 39.89m. Despite challenging wet and rainy conditions, his focus and technical skill saw him edge out the Queensland State Champion by just 14cm in a thrilling contest. His achievements extended beyond discus, as he placed fourth in the Shot Put with an impressive throw of 11.48m, narrowly missing a medal. Lachie also finished tenth in the Tetrathlon—a demanding event combining 100m, 800m, Shot Put, and Long Jump—and fifteenth in the individual Long Jump, rounding out an extraordinary week of competition.
Heidi also performed exceptionally, running a personal best of 2:26.40 in the 800m to secure twelfth place in a highly competitive field. Earlier in the week, she competed in the 1500m, finishing thirteenth in a record-breaking race. Heidi showed remarkable grit and determination, representing IEPS with pride.
Both athletes embodied the spirit of TeamVic, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and enjoying the camaraderie of their teammates. Well done again to Lachie and Heidi for their outstanding achievements and for representing their school and state with such excellence!

Early Departure Process Reminder
On behalf of the front office administration team, I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding the process for collecting students early from school. Due to the increasing number of early pick-ups and the logistical challenges this places on our office staff, we are introducing a new procedure to ensure a smooth and secure collection process for all students.
Effective as of Friday 6th December, the following steps will be required for all early student pick-ups:
- Sign Out on Compass Kiosk: Parents will need to sign their child out on the Compass Kiosk located at the school reception.
- Pick Up a Pink Card: After signing out, you will be given a pink card that indicates your child has been officially signed out.
- Proceed to Classroom: Please take the pink card with you to the classroom to collect your child.
- Hand the Card to the Teacher: When you arrive at the classroom, you must hand the pink card to the teacher before collecting your child. This step ensures that the teacher knows your child has been properly signed out.
- No Pink Card, No Collection: If you do not have a pink card, it will indicate to the teacher that your child has not been signed out properly. In this case, you will be asked to return to the reception to complete the sign-out process.
Additional Reminders:
- Where possible, please schedule appointments outside of school hours to minimize disruption to your child’s learning day.
- Notify the teacher in advance if you need to collect your child early, so they are aware and can prepare your child’s belongings. We will no longer be calling classrooms to have children waiting in reception for pick-up.
- Classroom Timetable: The classroom timetable will be posted on the classroom door so you can easily locate where your child may be if they are not in the classroom at the time of your arrival.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us to streamline the pick-up process and ensure the safety of all our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
