Activities and events at school
We are looking forward to celebrating Footy Colours Day and Book Week at school over the next couple of weeks. Students are encouraged to wear their club or House colours this Thursday, the 22nd of October as we celebrate the end of the Football Season.
We will also be celebrating our love of reading next Tuesday the 27th of October and students are welcome to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. While we are unable to hold the traditional Book Week parade, we have planned a number of activities for students to enjoy in classrooms throughout the day. We want this day to be fun for everyone so please don’t feel that you have to go to great lengths to create a costume for your child. This is definitely the year for ‘less is more’.
Public Holiday this Friday
Please note that this Friday the 23rd of October is a public holiday so there is no school on this day.
Smiling Mind
We have been fortunate to work with Smiling Mind this year through a DET led partnership aimed to improve staff and student wellbeing. Our staff are developing their own mindfulness practice and together we are exploring how mindfulness can support our whole school approach to wellbeing. Smiling Mind is now incorporated into daily tuning in activities in the classroom and we will introduce specific Smiling Mind lessons in the near future. We look forward to sharing strategies with you to support the wellbeing of you and family. In the meantime, we encourage you to become familiar with the Smiling Mind website and the app which includes a wide variety of free tools for you and your children.
Weekly Overviews
Each sub school, (Junior, Middle and Senior) will continue to provide you with a weekly overview to outline the learning program for the week. This will be distributed via Compass each Friday afternoon to share important information and to help you connect with the learning that is taking place in the classroom. We trust that you will find this useful as we continue to work in partnership to support your child’s learning.
