2021 Step Up Day- Tuesday 15th December
Our teachers have finalised the 2021 classes after a very thoughtful process that takes the following into consideration:
- Teacher’s knowledge of their students’ learning and social needs.
- Student input of learning friends where they are guaranteed to have at least one of their nominated friends in their class for next year.
- Parent information provided in writing to Justine Mackey by October 28.
The classes are reviewed by teaching teams and the Leadership Team in preparation for Step Up Day on Tuesday the 15h of December where the new classes will come together for a day of learning and getting to know you activities. This is an important day to start developing relationships with teachers and classmates prior to the start of the 2021 school year as part of our transition process.
2021 Prep Transition
We are enjoying meeting our 2021 prep students as part of their transition process. The majority of this year’s transition has been done remotely so it is very special to welcome the children into the school to meet their teachers. Thank you to our Prep Team of Sophie Herbert, Anneleise Staubli, Joanna King and Sarah Brush for supporting the students and their families through this important transition into life at school.
Student Progress Reports
You will have access to your child’s reports next Monday the 14th of December which will highlight their achievements and next steps for learning. We are committed to providing you with regular updates about your child’s learning which is reflected in this reporting overview for 2021.

Looking After Our School
I am sad to say that there has been further damage and vandalism to our school. We all want the school to be a safe place for our community and I am always happy to see families enjoying our facilities and grounds over the weekend. Please continue to do this, because the more that you are here, the less of an attractive place it is for those who are causing damage to our beautiful school. I am working closely with the Heidelberg Police and I encourage you to help us by:
- Discouraging your children from spending unsupervised time at school after school hours. This also applies to older children who may have left the school
- Contacting the police if you see any suspicious behaviour, or if you or your children, feel uncomfortable because of the behaviour of others at the school after school hours.
The Police Youth Resource Officers from Heidelberg Police Station will be visiting our Year 4, 5 and 6 students next Wednesday to reinforce these messages. They will also share some important messages about online safety.

2021 Strings and Instrumental Lessons
As the 2020 school year comes to a close we are also planning for 2021.
If you would like your child to begin strings or instrumental lessons (piano, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, drums, trumpet) next year, a 2021 pamphlet with expressions of interest details is now available at the office. There will be no increase for lessons or instrument hire in 2021. I have emailed current families with the new details.
