Our annual Information Evenings commenced last night with our Prep to Year 3 families and we look forward to seeing our Year 4-6 families this evening at 6.15pm via WebEx https://eduvic.webex.com/meet/phillips.benjamin.d. We will share the recordings of these sessions with you so you can view them in your own time if you were unable to join us. The purpose of the Information Nights is to meet the teaching teams and hear about the 2021 learning program. Thank you to our teachers for their preparation and commitment, we are grateful to have such a dedicated team of professionals teaching and supporting our students.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Please note that we will be holding parent teacher meetings on Tuesday 23rd – Thursday 25th of February. These meetings provide you with the opportunity to share valuable information about your child and to develop personal goals with the teacher. You will be able to book an interview with your child’s teacher via Compass this afternoon. The meetings will be held in classrooms, but please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to meet via WebEx.
School Council Nominations
This year there will be 4 Parent Member vacancies on School Council. These positions are for a two year term. We are also filling a casual vacancy for 12 months. A call for nominations was issued last week and nomination forms can be collected from the school office. These need to be returned to the office by 4:00pm Friday the 12th of February.
Class Representatives and Class Contact lists
As mentioned last week, we have moved from the paper version to an online form where you can nominate to be a Class Rep and provide your personal details if you wish to share these with other families in your child’s class and/or year level. There is one form for each family to list the names of each of your children.
Please use this link to access the form https://forms.gle/NUB4FZEtdyQ6XzfE9 and complete the details by 12pm on Friday the 12th of February to allow us to create contact lists as soon as possible.
Classroom Helper Training
Training is essential for any parent or carer who would like to be a classroom helper throughout their child’s time at IEPS. This is usually held at school but we are preparing an online version that you can complete at a time that is more convenient to you. We will let you know how you can access this in the coming weeks. Please note that you only need to complete the face to face or online training once during your children’s time at the school.
Road Safety Around the School
I am concerned about the safety of some of our students when they are crossing the road before and after school. Please remind your children about road safety and ensure that they use the school crossing. We also remind you to drive carefully around school during drop off and pick up time and that the parking out the front of the school is limited to 2 minutes. This is a Banyule Council ‘kiss and go’ area so please do not leave your car unattended.
Further information about road safety for children can be accessed from this link to the TAC website.

Face Masks
Please note that parents and carers must wear a face mask if they are inside school buildings. You may choose to wear one in the yard, but it is not compulsory.
Justine Mackey
This is a reminder to all families that the school uniform is compulsory. There are a range of pieces available to suit every student. The uniform is available from PSW in Kew. There is also a large amount of second-hand uniform pieces which can be purchased through the school office at a cost of $5 per item. The uniform includes a broad-brimmed hat which is compulsory in Terms 1 and 4. Baseball caps do not provide enough sun protection during play times and sports lessons. Please ensure that you label all items of uniform clearly so that any item left in the yard can be returned to your child.
We are currently bursting at the seams with second hand uniform items. We have t-shirts, shorts, summer dresses, jumpers, school bags etc. available for $5 per item. Please come to the school office for a key - these items are located in cupboards in the corridor of the main school building.
SEEKING VOLUNTEER/S FOR LOST PROPERTY & SECOND HAND UNIFORM CUPBOARD
We are currently seeking a parent volunteer (or two) to oversee the Lost Property and Second Hand Uniform cupboard.
Duties would include;
- coming in once a week to return labelled/named lost property items to those students
- tidying of cupboards
If you are interested please contact the school office.
CAMPS, SPORTS AND EXCURSIONS FUND APPLICATIONS
The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund helps eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.
If you have a valid means-tested concession card, such as a Veterans Affairs Gold Card, Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible. There is also a special consideration category for asylum seeker and refugee families.
Payment amounts this year are $125 for eligible primary school students. Payments are made direct to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions and sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
If you applied for CSEF through our school last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year, unless there has been a change in your family circumstances.
If you would like to apply for the first time, please contact the school office on 9499 2171 and ask for an application form.
You can also download the form, and find out more about the program and eligibility, on the Department of Education and Training’s Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund web page.
Check with the school office if you are unsure, and please return completed forms to the school office as soon as possible.
Environment Club, meets Fridays after school each week (depending on the weather), at the veggie boxes next to the 5/6 building. Anyone is welcome and it is a great way to meet other families and help the school. We greatly need a plumber to help us. If you think you can help, please get in touch with Carly Simmance or Michael Vosbergen via the office or contact below.
