Acting Principal for the remainder of 2021
After a formal application and interview process, the Regional Office has appointed Brett Millott as the Acting Principal for the remainder of 2021. Brett is a Principal of 10 years’ experience and is highly regarded. There will be a thorough handover from Justine Mackey and of course I will also be here to assist day to day while he settles in. I know our staff and school community will give him a warm welcome at the start of Term 2.
Working Bee Help
We have a small but committed group of parents who formed an Environment Club in 2019 to care for herb and planter boxes at the school. They successfully applied for a Landcare Grant last year and after the lifting of Covid restrictions late last year, are now ready to put the plans into practice in the school grounds.
The plan involves revegetating the bare strip of land along the Robinhood Rd fence line which is not able to be used as play space. The focus of the project is to involve all our students in the planting and care of the site and for them to be able to learn about the biodiversity of this habitat and how important biodiversity is to the environment.
This coming weekend there will be a Working Bee to clear the chip bark and any objects that might inhibit planting of the over 2000 native seedlings purchased with part of the grant. The club has a few dedicated families but the clearing of the site is a big job so as many hands as possible would be greatly appreciated this weekend, even if just for an hour or so. If we can have the area ready for early Term 2, our students will be able to plant the seedlings before the cold weather sets in.
There is a free BBQ for all helpers (see flyer further down in this bulletin).
End of Term 1 and Start of Term 2
Term 1 ends next Thursday 1st April at 2.30pm. The end of term dismissal time is always an hour earlier than the usual school day, except for Term 4 when it is two hours earlier. We will always remind you of the earlier time in advance.
The first day of Term 2 (Monday 19th April) is a Curriculum Day and as such it is a pupil-free day. This means students don’t attend school on that day but will have their first day of term on Tuesday 20th April. All staff will be at school on the Monday engaging in professional learning.
OSHClub run a full day program on Monday 19th April if you require care of your school-age children so please ensure you book in if you require this service.
