Return to School
All students in all year levels will return to school full time as of Monday 1st November. We are thrilled that all students will in their classrooms as usual from next week. We will maintain the staggered start and finish times in operation at present. We will also have all students dropped off at one of the designated gates on Warncliffe Road or Robinhood Road each morning and picked up from the same gate after school.
The staggered start and finish times are to minimise congestion and support social distancing outside the gates. Currently, parents are only allowed onsite to attend the office or to attend a meeting which has been pre-approved.
Melbourne Cup Day
Tuesday 2nd November is the Melbourne Cup public holiday. There will be no school on this day.
Safety Measures for School Return
Last week I sent out some information on actions schools are required to undertake to ensure that schools are safe places for students, staff and visitors.
Staff must practise physical distancing 1.5m between themselves and other staff members or adults to the extent that is reasonably practicable. Staff should physically distance themselves from students where appropriate and feasible.
Schools are encouraged to maximise the use of outdoor learning areas and environments.
Schools are required to increase fresh air flow into indoor spaces (including shared spaces, staff areas and thoroughfares) whenever possible. Staff and students should maximise the use of outdoor learning areas or environments wherever possible.
All staff, students and visitors to schools should undertake regular hand hygiene, particularly on arrival to school, before and after eating, after blowing their nose, coughing, sneezing or using the toilet. Staff should direct or supervise young students where required.
Sharing of food is not permitted.
COVIDSafe routine cleaning arrangements will continue for all Victorian government schools in Term 4. This involves daily end-of-school-day cleaning, with a particular focus on cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces, and the inclusion of some elements that were not cleaned every day prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The most important action school communities can take to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, is to ensure that any unwell staff and students remain at home and get tested, even with the mildest of symptoms. Everyone should consider their health before they start work or attend school and ensure that they are free from coronavirus symptoms and have not had contact in the past 14 days with a person confirmed to have coronavirus or a person suspected to have coronavirus.
Canteen
The Canteen will be open for counter sales only on Monday 1st November. As of Wednesday 3rd November, sandwiches (fresh and toasted) will be available as lunch orders through MySchool Connect in addition to recess and lunch counter sales.
