Our school boasts a strong sense of ‘community’. Teachers, parents and students work together to ensure that we offer the best teaching and learning opportunities for all of our students. Our highly professional teaching teams are integral to the success of our learning program. They work together to plan so that the teaching and learning is responsive to the needs of their students which allows teaching to be targeted to the needs of individual students.
This is underpinned by our commitment to providing authentic opportunities for students to be empowered and have greater agency within the learning process. This includes clear planning processes that activate student voice, feedback, individual goal setting practices and the co-construction of learning rubrics and ‘I Can’ statements so that students know what they need to do to achieve their next step in learning. This is enhanced by a collaborative culture that promotes authentic peer to peer collaboration across the school.
Ivanhoe East Primary School promotes a School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework which focuses on harnessing positive behaviour and promoting opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning in and outside of the classroom. The framework encompasses, the respectful relationships curriculum, our school values of curiosity, resilience, respect, and friendship, the smiling minds program, community circle time and the zones of regulation.
We also offer a broad range of timetabled Specialist programs including Physical Education, Music, Visual and Performing Arts and French.
Our school vision, created by students, staff and parents is to promote an inclusive learning environment where our students are valued and nurtured to excel academically, emotionally, and socially. To achieve this, our mission is to;
It is my hope that any visitor to Ivanhoe East Primary School can see this vision coming to fruition through our actions and through the development of all our students. In addition, the school aims to be as accessible as possible, and I am always happy to meet with parents and students to discuss their individual needs.
Connection with our parent community is a priority and we use the Compass app so our families can be kept up to date with our latest communications, arrange payments and access school documentation. We have a weekly bulletin that encapsulates all of what is happening across the school. We also use the Seesaw app so our students can create an ongoing portfolio with the intent to build a connection between home and school that showcases student learning in an authentic and timely way.
I welcome families to join me on a school tour to experience IEPS for themselves. Please feel free to 'Book a Tour' online.
